Inspiring Female Board Members – Happy International Women’s Day!
Today, International Women’s Day 2024, as Chair of Digoshen and Chair/NED of numerous organisations, I am compelled to pause and celebrate the remarkable women across the Boards I have the privilege of serving with.
Thank you for your continued colboration and inspiration – Adele Brugge Norman, Anna Belfrage, Tina Daniels, Donna Pasqual, Julie Baddeley, Agnes K Y Tai, Sabrina Bruno, Pim Valdre, Ingrid Stenmark, Anna Honner, Bente Sollid Storehaug, Aija Bärlund, Katharina Mosheim, Elisabetta Castiglioni, Monica Lagercrantz and Sugandha Mahajan. Your unwavering dedication, insightful leadership, and compassionate guidance not only propel our collective success but also spark significant change and empowerment throughout our organizations and the broader industry.
In the spirit of trailblazers like Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a US Supreme Court Jutice, who once said, “Women belong in all places where decisions are being made,” each of you embodies this ethos, bringing a unique blend of strength, wisdom, and grace to the table. This fusion creates a leadership tapestry that is not only vibrant and resilient but also transformative.
Your contributions extend far beyond the confines of the boardroom, shaping a future where the ideals of equality, respect, and opportunity are tangible realities for all. In the words of the influential American Poet Maya Angelou, “Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women.” You are not just contributing; you are paving the way for future generations.
On this momentous day, let us reaffirm our commitment to shattering ceilings, championing trailblazing role models like the first programmer Ada Lovelace and pioneering physicist and chemist Marie Curie, and fostering a world brimming with inclusivity. Today, we celebrate not only the progress we’ve achieved but also the promising path that lies ahead. Together, we are more than leaders; we are catalysts for enduring change.
Thank you for being more than colleagues—you are role models, mentors, and cherished friends.
And a special acknowledgment also goes out to my Mother Kerstin Hägertz, and sister Eva-Lena Asplund who continue to be a source of inspiration and ecouragement. And also to my innovative colleague, Fernanda Torre, whose research, teaching, and leadership continue spear-head us into a better future.
Here’s to the incredible women on our boards—may we continue to ascend, enlighten, and lead with undaunted courage and boundless compassion.
“Dreams do come true, but not without the help of others, a good education, a strong work ethic, and the courage to lean in”
– Ursula Burns, Chair Xerox
